UX design | User flow | Wireframing

UWC were looking for a platform to allow their community to build profiles and learn from one another.

This project shows the thought process and wireframing of a solution for an app-based alumni & student portal.

UWC needed a centralised digital area where current students could connect with the alumni community and where knowledge can be shared by these now industry-level professionals to the students of the college.

An app was the favoured solution, which would have two main sectors before login; ‘Student’ and ‘Alumni’. Below is an early flow idea and wireframe of the most complex user journey of the app — adding an offering for a mentoring programme.

› Course tagging

› Course details

› Contact details

› Summary

Wireframe flow

The aim was to keep the experience as short as possible and break down the potentially complicated and long-winded process of adding in details of a particular course offering.

By breaking the process down into four short sections, it gives the user a sense of their progress and keeps their mind focussed on each part. The wireframe uses a mixture of toggle buttons and visual cues where possible, supported by a simple UI to further ease the process.

The user then has one final chance to look over their details and make any changes if they wish before submitting.

Form complete

Once the form is submitted, the user gets a pleasing and reassuring message to let them know. They then have the option to add another course if they wish but the main call to action is the ‘Finished’ button which will take them back to the profile area of the app.

The next phase of this process would be to create alternate options to A/B test with a small group of users and tweak until the process is as efficient as possible.
